Welcome
to the Great Pocomoke City Fair harness race condition
sheet. It is with great pride and pleasure that we announce
that we will be conducting USTA sanctioned races, in addition
to the exhibition races we have conducted in the recent
past. With the upheaval in Md. harness racing, I am honestly
uncertain as to how many horses will enter this year's
races. It is my hope that we have a packed box as wehave
had in the past couple years. Due to the uncertainty all
purses will be listed at $1000. I will adjust purses dependent
on the number of races we have (unless we have over 70
horses entered purses will in no case be lowered). In
addition, upon entering please specify whether you wish
to race in a "sanctioned" race with a charted
line or in an exhibition race.
The
Great Pocomoke City Fair also has changed policy in regard
to cancellation of the races. Every horse entered will
recieve a $100 expense reinbursement if it becomes necessary
to cancel the races, due to circumstance beyond our control.
Any leftover funds resulting from a cancellation will
be placed in escrow and added to the following year's
purses.
In
addition, in response to current conditions, the Great
Pocomoke City Fair is proud to announce its first ever
Late Closers for Maryland owned, sired or foaled horses.
These races will be sanctioned and charted lines generated.
In order to participate in a sanctioned event all participants
(owners, trainers and drivers) must be licensed by the
USTA.
The
races will be contested Saturday August 28th with a first
post of 12:30. The entry box opens Wednesday August 18th
at ten am (eastern) and closes on Wednesday August 25th
at noon. I will be traveling during this time so please
leave a message and I will return your call by noon the
day after your call. I will arrive in Pocomoke City on
August 25th.

order to nominate e-mail Merani1960@aol.com
with the horse's name, horses age, owner and trainer -
please use "Late Closer" as your header. You
will receive an email from me by August 11th confirming
you entries. There is no entry fee for these races, but
no nominations will be accepted after Monday August 10th
at midnight eastern. You will have to enter these horses
normally when the box opens, I just need an idea of how
many horses we will have entering. If fewer then 10 enter
in a specific Late Closer, sexes may be combined to make
the race go, if that still results in fewer than 10 entries

of reference from an A level licensed USTA driver stating
they can handle a horse safely and they are not a danger
to themselves or any other participants in these races.
The decision of the Race Secretary regarding the participants
in this race is final. We are looking for safe bomb-proof
horses for this event and every approved driver will have
the opportunity to participate in at least one division
of this race. The purpose of this race is to give youngsters
the thrill of driving in a real race before they can do
so in a sanctioned race and I will attempt to have a least
one trot event for this class.
